Terms & Conditions

Effective date: January 1, 2026

The following Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made directly with Golden Horizons Safari Co. (“Golden Horizons Safari,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By confirming a booking, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms & Conditions, which form a binding agreement between you (the traveller, “you,” or “your”) and Golden Horizons Safari Co.

These Terms & Conditions apply to all bookings made via email, phone, online inquiry forms, or in person. The individual making the booking confirms that they are authorised to act on behalf of all travelers included in the booking, and that all such travelers agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

Quotations & Pricing

All quotations are based on anticipated costs at the time of proposal and are subject to change prior to confirmation. Pricing may be affected by factors beyond our control, including but not limited to exchange rate fluctuations, supplier price increases, fuel surcharges, tax or park fee increases, or changes imposed by third-party suppliers.

Quotes are typically valid for a limited period as specified in your proposal. If confirmation is not received within this period, pricing and availability may change. Golden Horizons Safari Co. is not obligated to provide a detailed breakdown of individual costs within a packaged itinerary.

Prices may be presented in different currencies depending on the destination and nature of the itinerary.

Deposits & Payments

A non-refundable deposit of 30% of the total booking cost is generally required to confirm reservations for individual bookings (1–4 travelers), unless otherwise specified in writing.

Group bookings

For group bookings of five (5) travellers or more, a non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total booking cost is required at the time of confirmation. This reflects the additional planning, coordination, and contractual commitments required for group travel.

The remaining balance for all bookings is due no later than 75 days prior to arrival, unless supplier terms require earlier payment. If a booking is made within 75 days of travel, full payment is required immediately.

Certain services — including but not limited to gorilla and primate trekking permits, special charter flights, or limited-availability experiences — require 100% payment at the time of booking and are strictly non-refundable and non-transferable.

Failure to make payment by the specified due date may result in automatic cancellation of the booking, with applicable cancellation fees.

Cancellations & Changes

All cancellations or requests for changes must be submitted in writing.

Cancellations will generally result in the forfeiture of deposits paid. Additional cancellation fees may apply depending on the timing of cancellation and the specific terms imposed by lodges, airlines, and other third-party suppliers.

Requests to postpone travel are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. While we will make reasonable efforts to work with our partners to offer flexible solutions, some postponements may be treated as cancellations under supplier terms.

We strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance to protect against cancellation or interruption costs.

Travel insurance

Comprehensive travel and medical insurance is mandatory for all travellers. Insurance must, at a minimum, include coverage for:

  • Trip cancellation, interruption, or delay

  • Medical expenses

  • Emergency medical evacuation and repatriation

  • Baggage and personal effects

  • Covid-19 and pandemic-related disruptions

Golden Horizons Safari Co. is not liable for any loss, injury, or cost incurred as a result of your failure to obtain adequate travel insurance. We strongly recommend evacuation coverage through a reputable provider such as Global Rescue or equivalent.

Passports, visas & Entry requirements

Travellers are responsible for ensuring they hold valid passports, visas, vaccinations, and any other documentation required for their journey.

Passports must generally be valid for at least six (6) months beyond the return date and contain a minimum of three blank pages for immigration stamps when travelling to many African countries.

Golden Horizons Safari Co. is not liable for denied entry due to incorrect or incomplete documentation. For up-to-date visa and entry requirements, we recommend consulting official government sources or a reputable visa advisory service such as Sherpa.

A copy of a valid passport may be required to confirm reservations with certain suppliers.

Travel risks & Liability

Golden Horizons Safari Co. acts as a travel agent only, arranging travel services with independent third-party suppliers, including airlines, lodges, transport providers, guides, and tour operators. These suppliers are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of Golden Horizons Safari Co.

We do not accept responsibility or liability for the acts, omissions, errors, representations, warranties, breaches, or negligence of any third-party supplier, nor for any loss, injury, death, property damage, accident, delay, or irregularity arising from their services.

You acknowledge that travel to remote and wild destinations involves inherent risks, including the risk of serious illness or injury, and you voluntarily assume full responsibility for such risks.

Where liability cannot be lawfully excluded, it is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

Wherever possible, Golden Horizons Safari Co. uses original imagery captured during our own travels and safaris. Additional images featured on this website may be provided by our trusted lodge, experience, and destination partners, and are used in good faith for promotional and inspirational purposes.

Supplier insolvency

In the event that a third-party supplier becomes insolvent or ceases trading, Golden Horizons Safari Co. is not obligated to refund payments made on your behalf. You may be able to seek recovery through your travel insurance provider or applicable consumer protection laws.

Financial arrangements & Commissions

Golden Horizons Safari Co. may receive remuneration through commissions, incentives, or other financial arrangements from third-party travel service providers for bookings made on your behalf. These arrangements do not affect the price you pay unless otherwise stated. We are not required by law to disclose the nature or value of such financial arrangements.

Privacy & Data use

Your privacy is important to us. By booking with Golden Horizons Safari Co., you consent to the collection, storage, and sharing of personal information necessary to arrange your travel. This may include sharing information with overseas suppliers and partners.

Our full Privacy Policy is available on our website.

Complaints & Disputes

Any concerns or complaints should be raised with us or our local representatives as soon as reasonably possible during your trip. Written complaints must be submitted within 30 days of travel completion.

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the applicable laws of the jurisdiction in which Golden Horizons Safari Co. operates, and any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the relevant courts.

Amendments

Golden Horizons Safari Co. reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. The most current version will always be available on our website and will apply to all new bookings.
